Young adulthood is an ambiguous and, often, anxious time when we are called to leave the safety of childhood and the turbulence of adolescence behind and move into the next chapter of our journey.

Many of us cross this threshold into young adulthood confused and unidentified. To help navigate this rich and transformative time, we need consistent support and mentors as well as opportunities to share our gifts as we learn to inhabit our calling.

We offer short- and long-term Soul-Discovery and Print programs for young adults (ages 18-26). These programs are located in our print shop and invite participants to get to know themselves more deeply in the context of an intergenerational learning community.

These programs are soul-centered. At Springhouse, soul is defined as one’s ultimate place in the world. As author and wilderness guide, Bill Plotkin, writes, it is “the source, the marrow, of your true belonging. This is the identity no one could ever take from you. Inhabiting this place does not depend on having anyone else’s permission or approval or presence.” These programs are designed to guide participants back to a sense of true belonging so that they can show up fully in this world.

Short-Term Programs

Alternative Spring Break and Summer Workshops

These are week-long programs for young adults who want to more deeply explore who they are in a community of peers and in the context of a print shop. During these short-term programs, participants will engage in spiritual practices like dance and yoga along with self-study in a loving and trusting community. They will collaborate on a creative project in the print shop and, ultimately, build a deeper connection with themselves, their peers, and the mysteries of Life. They will also get to know and become a part of a long-term global community committed to cultural renewal. This is an opportunity for those interested in the 8-month residency to have a similar short-term experience.

Soul-Discovery Print Shop Programs

8-Month Residency

This long-term program invites participants to descend into their own depths to recover a more mature and vital way of being in the world.

This residency is a transformational program for young adults who are interested in deepening their self-knowledge, connecting with their calling, and acquiring skills to navigate their inner landscape in a long-term community. In this program, participants will experience the magic of the print shop. In our community print shop, they learn the hands-on experience and history of print, support production at Sourced Press, and create their own works of art. Along with time in the print shop, participants learn about the mysteries of life with their peers and explore how the soul intersects with art, community, and service.

Residency Program Logistics

8-month Residency Dates: October 2nd – May 18th

  • Fall Intensive:  October 2nd – 6th, 2024

  • Spring Intensive: May 14th – 18th, 2025

This program is roughly 15 hours per week and includes the following:

Weekly Group Study 

The personal development work at the heart of this program is done in the safety and intimacy of authentic community and in the context of supportive relationships. Participants will meet for roughly 3 hours/week with their cohort, where they will be encouraged to step into their vulnerability and be witnessed exactly as they are. Participants might engage in soul-centered practices like self-study, sacred dance, music and singing, ritual and ceremony, wilderness vigils, psychodrama, dream work, and solitude and meditation.

Mentoring

In one-on-one mentoring sessions, participants will work closely with one of the program facilitators, both of whom are experienced mentors and have either led or facilitated this program in its various forms in the past. Participants will be asked courageous questions, and the mentor will serve as a mirror, allowing each participant to know themselves more fully and access new perspectives.

Peer Mentoring

In addition to one-on-one mentoring, all participants have a peer mentor with whom they meet twice a month. Peer mentors engage in self-study together and support one another on this journey of soul-discovery. To guide their learning they will use different books and reflective questions, including the book "Consider the Source: a design for living," which is produced by Sourced Press.

Print Shop

For about 10 hours per week, participants will be in the print shop supporting production and community workshops and creating their own works of art. They will learn letterpress, screen printing, bookmaking, and relief printmaking while being of service to the Springhouse community and engaging in their own creative process.

Intergenerational Learning

Participants in this program learn in an intergenerational community. When we learn alongside people of different ages - for example, young adults learning with teens and elders - magic happens. We grow in ways we could not have imagined. Some examples of how this happens include singing, dancing, and learning and practicing Spanish. Being in a diverse community with people of various ages makes for rich learning and builds a resilient and vital learning community.

Tuition

We have set tuition rates for our programs, and we remain committed to ensuring that no one is turned away due to a lack of funds (learn more about our economic approach).

There are three tuition rates for the 8-Month Residency:

  1. Pay-it-Forward Rate: $7,000 (Default payment schedule is $875/mo for 8 months)

  2. Sustaining Rate: $5,000 (Default payment schedule is $625/mo for 8 months)

  3. Supported Rate: We remain committed to accessibility, and no one is turned away due to lack of funds. If you cannot afford either of the rates above, please review our Supported Tuition Rate Packet and prepare for a tuition meeting with Chris.

Soul-Discovery and Print Programs Facilitators

Sarah Pollock (she/her)

Sourced Press Director

Sarah Pollock, a director, artist, and mentor, leads Sourced Press, the Springhouse print shop. With expertise in a variety of artist mediums, including letterpress printing, she shapes creative experiences in the print shop, mentoring, on the dance floor, and beyond. She has been serving nonprofits for many years with a focus on environmental restoration and conservation, rites of passage for international youth, dance, and youth mentorship. She is certified in Forrest yoga, is a SomaSource practitioner, and has a degree from Clark University in Global Environmental Studies. Currently studying Transformative Learning Communities at Antioch University, she has focused her master’s thesis on professional development for educators. Hailing from Colorado, she finds solace in nature, often wandering forests, cold plunging, and sketching tree roots.

Roxanne Greenberg (she/they)

Sourced Press Production Manager

Roxanne is a kinesthetic learner and values hands-on learning and the importance of living connected to the land. She is interested in how slowing down and turning inward can help us observe and become more conscious of how we move through our external environments. She believes in the body's innate wisdom to heal and transform and is passionate about supporting others in cultivating resiliency, learning from differences, and working to restore what needs repair. At Springhouse you can find Roxanne facilitating a variety of classes, supporting events and the beautiful building and campus Springhouse calls home.
