Immersion in nature, physical challenge, personal growth and authentic connection: The Blue Ridge Passage (BRP) is a 5 day co-ed backpacking trip for teens that takes place in the beautiful backcountry of Shenandoah National Park. With strenuous hiking, solo time in the wilderness, ritual, and group work, participants have the potential for a truly transformational experience. This trip empowers young people to know their strength and test their edges with the support of peers and guides.
Parents and guardians are invited to be present for a ceremonial send-off and return. This supports family connections and provides a bridge to help the participants integrate their experience in home life.
Registrants will receive a detailed packing list, and there will be a packing meeting to review gear. If you do not have access to the necessary gear, Springhouse staff can help you secure what is needed.
Both guides are Springhouse staff members (Chris Wolf and H Leopold) with extensive experience, including wilderness first aid, leading groups, and navigating the backcountry.
Trip is limited to 10 participants so early registration is encouraged.
