Two-Year Certificate Programs

The eyes of the future are looking back at us,
and they are praying
that we might see beyond our own time.
They are kneeling with hands clasped
that we might act with restraint,
that we might leave room for the life
that is destined to come.
To protect what is wild is to protect what is gentle.
Perhaps the wildness we fear
is the pause between our own heart beats,
the silent space that says we live only by grace
wildness, wilderness lives by this same grace,
wild mercy is in our hands.
Let this be our prayer, reimagined.

In-Person Program

A residential program with a low-residency option in the second year

Online Program

A completely remote two-year program

In-Person Certificate Program

For the in-person certificate program, the first year is residential and takes place over the course of 9 months at Springhouse in Floyd, Virginia. During this initial year, participants will spend around 20 hours/week at Springhouse learning in main courses and focusing on fortification work. Participants will also begin a two-year long project in which they will apply Sourced Design to a project with the aim of building regenerative culture.

The second year of the program is focused on practice, either in Floyd (at Springhouse or another location regionally) or in the participant’s home place. The program itself is online for the second year and culminates with participants sharing their learning experience at the Springhouse Annual Gathering in May. It is our sincere hope that participants leave this program with a grounded sense of what it requires to build regenerative culture, one day at a time.

Springhouse’s Sourced Design Lab is a pre-requisite to this program.

The in-person certificate program is facilitated by Dr. Jenny Finn, Springhouse Executive Director, and Sarah Merfeld, Springhouse Director of Programs.

APPLICATION CLOSED FOR 2022-2024

Online Certificate Program

For the online certificate program, both years of the program are held remotely. This option was created for individuals that are committed to their work in a particular place and cannot move to Floyd to participate in our in-person programming. This program will assist participants in studying and applying the Sourced Design model to their work in building regenerative culture. During the first year, participants will meet weekly for 2-hour facilitated courses and cohort meetings from October through May.

During the second year of the program, participants integrate with two-year in-person program participants and focus on putting their learning into practice in their home place. The program culminates with participants sharing their learning experience at the Springhouse Annual Gathering in May, either virtually or, preferably, in person. It is our sincere hope that participants leave this program with a grounded sense of what it requires to build regenerative culture, one day at a time.

Springhouse’s Sourced Design Lab is a pre-requisite to this program.

The online certificate program is facilitated by Cheryl Utley, a Springhouse staff member.

To apply, send a letter of intent to Cheryl@springhouse.org describing why you are called to this program by September 1st, 2022.
